Mr David Iles is a Consultant Subspecialist Urogynaecologist. He is the Clinical Lead at the Warrell Unit, St. Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Iles specialises in the assessment and management of pelvic floor disorders, including vaginal prolapse (pelvic organ prolapse), bladder dysfunction, perineal problems following childbirth, and mesh-related concerns. His practice emphasises conservative management, working closely with specialist pelvic floor physiotherapists and bladder health nurses. Where surgery is required, he undertakes minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures alongside established reconstructive techniques.

He completed a combined medical degree programme at the University of St Andrews and the University of Manchester. He completed formal subspecialist training in urogynaecology in 2018 and is on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with Subspecialist Accreditation in Urogynaecology.

His clinical approach is informed by his doctoral research (MD) at the University of Manchester, which explored the relationship between pelvic floor dysfunction, perineal trauma, and body image. This work highlighted the physical and emotional impact of pelvic floor conditions and underpins his holistic, patient-centred approach.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Iles is actively involved in education and training. He is Subspecialty Training Programme Supervisor for Urogynaecology at the Warrell Unit and contributes nationally through his roles with the British Society of Urogynaecology and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Mr Iles is a core member of the St Mary’s Mesh Complications Service and has extensive experience in the assessment and counselling of women with mesh-related concerns, providing expert opinion and guidance on appropriate referral pathways where required.
